THE TRANTER MEMORIAL CAIRN.

UNVEILED ON 23rd NOVEMBER 2000 THIS CAIRN WAS ERECTED IN NIGEL'S MEMORY

BY THE EAST LOTHIAN COUNCIL AND BY WORLDWIDE SUBSCRIPTIONS

Councillor Gilbert Meikle being the prime mover of the project.

The Cairn is situated in Aberlady bay only some 100 yards from Quarry House where Nigel, May and family stayed from 1951. It is also appropriately sited near the end of the timber bridge that was Nigel's 'Bridge to Enchantment'. Once across that bridge he entered the 'magical world' that is our historical heritage.

I am indebted to Frances May, Nigel's daughter, for both the pictures and for her permission to share them.
